Ric began his steel career in 1977 at the New York City sales office of Bethlehem Steel, and after gaining much experience, eventually moved to Grand Rapids, MI and worked as the sales manager of a service center. Most recently, Ric was the General Manager of a Midwest service center, spending his time in Chicago, Iowa, and Michigan. Lee Steel Corporation has purchased a new Precision Multi-Blanking Line with Stretcher Leveler from Red Bud Industries of Red Bud, Illinois, for their Wyoming, Michigan, service center. The new line is capable of processing material up to .135" (3.4 mm) by 72" (1830 mm) at coil weights up to 70,000 lb (31,751 kg). Continuing its philosophy of operating only the most modern, innovative equipment in its service centers, Lee Steel wanted a line that had the best, most state-of-the-art technology on the market.

Lee Steel has added a second 72" Braner slitting line to its Detroit facility. The new slitter will mirror the current 72" Braner slitting line and will also include a Braner tension leveler. Both lines will feed into the computer-controlled, automated banding system. This third new slitter since 2000 will bring the average age of Lee Steel's processing lines to under six years old, a remarkable number by industry standards.
